The Moratuwa village is just outside Columbo, the capitol city of Sri Lanka. Though not suffering a direct hit from the tsunami, the damage was just as devasting. The people of this village made their living from the sea. The tsunami took many lives, all of their homes, and any opportunity to make a living. The people now live in a virtual shanty town.

Initially they were provided food by a large relief organization; however, those supplies were stolen and sold on the blackmarket. Today they live day-to-day. We were able to provide enough food for all 98 familes for a period of one month with just $1000 dollars.
